Better Cycling Starts Off the Bike – Discover Strength Training with Iron Cage
Jan 20, 2026Cycling is a demanding and rewarding sport that tests your endurance, fitness and determination. But if you want to ride faster, improve your performance and reduce the risk of injury, putting in more kilometres on the bike is not always enough. Strength training and core training can play an important role in building long-term cycling performance.
This is where Iron Cage can become a valuable part of your training – a versatile All-in-One training system that allows you to combine strength, core and bodyweight exercises at home, in your garden or outdoors.
Strength Training = More Speed
Strength training can improve your power, help you tackle steep climbs more effectively and provide greater stability on descents and technical terrain. Contrary to a common misconception, properly integrated strength training does not reduce your cadence or compromise cycling performance – quite the opposite.
Strong legs, a resilient back and a stable core can help you ride more efficiently and with greater control. Incorporating exercises such as squats, pull-ups, push-ups, planks and mobility work into your weekly training routine can contribute to better overall performance, while also supporting resilience and reducing the risk of injury.
Train at Home or Outdoors – Iron Cage Gives You Freedom and Versatility
If you are looking for a practical way to incorporate strength and functional training into your routine, Iron Cage offers a versatile solution. The system was designed by recreational cyclist Juraj Bugár with the aim of creating a compact training system that supports strength, functional and bodyweight training in one place.
Iron Cage is a robust steel training structure designed for both outdoor and indoor use. It combines 18 fully functional training stations within a footprint of less than 5 m², providing a wide range of training possibilities in a remarkably compact space.
With a footprint of approximately 2.2 × 2.2 metres, Iron Cage requires very little space and does not require ground anchoring. Its training stations include an adjustable horizontal bar, Dip Bars, climbing ladders, J-hooks, PEG Board, gymnastic rings, Battle Rope and much more, allowing you to train your entire body in a variety of ways.
You can find more information on the Iron Cage product page.
How Iron Cage Helps Build Strength, Stability and Control
Both recreational and competitive cyclists can benefit from training with Iron Cage. Regular strength and bodyweight training can help you build a stronger core through exercises such as planks, pull-ups and hanging exercises. Training the upper back, shoulders and grip can also contribute to better upper-body stability and control on the bike, particularly during longer or more demanding rides.
The J-hooks allow you to incorporate barbell squats and other strength exercises to develop lower-body strength. The PEG Board, gymnastic rings and climbing rope add further training possibilities for developing coordination, mobility, grip strength and overall functional strength.
Iron Cage can also be used for lighter training and mobility sessions between more demanding workouts, including controlled hanging exercises and stretching. Another advantage is the possibility of training together, whether with friends, family or training partners.
